One person was taken into custody Saturday night after a pickup truck crashed through the storefront of the Barn & Charm boutique on Lyons Avenue in Newhall.
First responders received reports of a vehicle into a building around 8:40 p.m., according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Supervising Dispatcher Melinda Choi.
Units arriving on scene surveyed the damage and determined that there was no one trapped in either the vehicle nor the store, said Choi.
No one was transported to the hospital as a result of the incident; however, minor injuries were reported, fire officials said.
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies also responded to the crash and, as of 9:45 p.m., were working the scene, according to SCV Sheriff’s Station Lt. Rod Loughridge.
Deputies on scene conducted a breathalyzer test on a man who was subsequently placed in handcuffs.
No additional information regarding the status of the deputies’ investigation was available as of 10 p.m., per station officials.
A fundraiser was set up to help cover the cost of repairs.
