Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies arrested a man on suspicion of elder abuse after responding to a dispute at a home in Saugus Friday evening.

Deputies were called to the 28500 block of Kathleen Avenue regarding a report indicating “the victim, (a) male, adult 71 years old, had been physically assaulted by the suspect, (a) male adult (age) 62 … at approximately 9:15 p.m.

“The victim was at the suspects’ home … playing a card game, when the suspect became upset over a comment the victim made about the way the suspect shuffled cards,” according to a preliminary report by deputies on the scene.

The alleged victim and suspect started arguing and the victim decided to leave the home. At this point, the suspect then reportedly escorted the victim from the home “and, while doing so, punched the victim repeatedly in his upper torso, according to an email Tuesday from Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokeswoman for the SCV Sheriff’s Station.

“The victim suffered minor injuries in which he was evaluated by medical personnel and released on scene,” she added, citing the arrest report. “The suspect was arrested at the time of the investigation.”
