A man suspected of assaulting a law enforcement officer was arrested after he led L.A. County sheriff’s deputies and California Highway Patrol officers on a pursuit that began in the Palmdale area and proceeded south on Highway 14 to the Santa Clarita Valley late Tuesday morning, according to sheriff’s officials.Â
Two law enforcement officers and the suspect sustained minor injuries and were transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital for treatment, according to Capt. Kevin Garcia of the L.A. County Fire Department.
According to Lt. Oscar Martinez, watch commander at the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station, the suspect was wanted on suspicion of assaulting an officer. Deputies were dispatched at 11:30 a.m.
The suspect exited the freeway at Golden Valley Road and the pursuit continued on surface streets into Canyon Country. The suspect was involved in a collision and, according to law enforcement radio dispatch traffic, rammed into a CHP vehicle. The suspect was driving a silver, four-door truck.
After the collision, the suspect fled on foot and was taken into custody around noon in a shopping center parking lot near the intersection of Whites Canyon Road and Soledad Canyon Road.
