News release
Canyon Theatre Guild is now performing Neil Simon’s “Come Blow Your Horn,” with weekend showtimes through June 29.
As described on the guild’s website: “Neil Simon’s first Broadway comedy smash. It’s the swinging 1960s in New York City. Alan Baker, a 30-ish swinging bachelor with time, money and women to spare, welcomes rebellious and eager 21-year brother Buddy into his den of iniquity while their horrified parents can only watch and pray.”
“Come Blow Your Horn” premiered on Broadway in 1961, where it ran for over a year. Its success led to a screen adaptation in 1963 with a film starring Frank Sinatra. The Chicago Critic reviewed the show in 2010, remarking that it is “filled with witty, humorous insights and domestic commentary as the playwright cleverly mines his own life. This semi-autobiographical comedy brims with hilarious, often poignant, family conflicts – and resolutions.”
Director Barry Agin calls the production “a hilarious romp surrounding family dynamics the way only the legendary Neil Simon can present it. This funny touching and nostalgic play will have everyone recognizing pieces of their own family in this 1960s comic masterpiece.”
Tickets are $19 for adults, $17 for seniors, and $15 for students. For showtimes or to reserve, call 661-799-2702 or visit canyontheatre.org/comeblowyourhorn.
