A 56-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of elder abuse after Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies contacted the woman, who appeared to be heavily intoxicated, on the 26700 block of Isabella Parkway on Friday afternoon, according to officials with the station.
The victim, a bedridden woman in her late 70s, is the suspect’s mother who reportedly had requested assistance from the suspect, according to an email statement by Shirley Miller, spokeswoman with the station.
The suspect allegedly became angry and physically assaulted the victim, with the victim being treated medically on scene, Miller’s statement said.
The woman was arrested on suspicion of felony elder abuse charges and transported to the station’s jail where she remains in custody without bail as of the publication of this story, according to Miller’s statement.
