A structure fire was reported at the Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic on Thursday afternoon, and most fire personnel were released within an hour of the call, according to radio dispatch traffic and officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Upon arrival, firefighters determined that it was only smoke and no flames were showing, according to Saadullah Sheikh, spokesman for the Fire Department.
Firefighters were dispatched to the call at 2:26 p.m. and arrived at 2:35 p.m., according to Howard Tieu, spokesman with the Fire Department.
However, according to first responder radio dispatch traffic and the PulsePoint emergency dispatch app, most units had been released from the scene and just one engine remained as of 3:20 p.m. Thursday.
Firefighters closed the call at 3:29 p.m., Sheikh said.
There is no additional information at the time of this publication, Tieu said.
