Five men were arrested on suspicion of burglary near the 24000 block of Quigley Canyon Road in Newhall on Friday night, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Lt. Luis Molina reported that deputies, in coordination with the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department’s Major Crimes Bureau, were on patrol for burglary suspects in Newhall at approximately 6 p.m. when they were alerted to a residential burglary in progress on Quigley Canyon Road. Upon noticing the presence of law enforcement, all five suspects, whom Molina identified as male and Hispanic, fled the scene, and authorities established a containment perimeter, with air support also being requested.

All five suspects were apprehended about an hour later, according to Molina, who was unable to confirm whether they were the preexisting burglary suspects that sheriff’s deputies and the Major Crimes Bureau had initially been seeking. No injuries or medical transports were reported.
