A man was detained following an attempted burglary in Newhall in the early hours of Saturday morning, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call stating there was a possible burglary taking place in a residence on the 22000 block of Market Street at approximately 4:55 a.m., said Deputy Nicholas Hoslet, a spokesman for the Station.

At the time of the incident there was at least one person present in the home, he added, but deputies arrived on time and arrested a man approximately in his 40s on suspicion of attempted burglary, he said.

It is unknown whether the man breaking into the home knew the victim and the station’s watch sergeant could not immediately be reached for additional comment at the time of this story’s publication.
