A suspect is at large after stealing a vehicle and fleeing the scene at the intersection of Valle Del Oro and Newhall Avenue near an apartment complex on Sunday afternoon, according to an official with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
A pursuit was initiated when a deputy was traveling westbound on Newhall Avenue from Sierra Highway, according to observations from the scene.
The deputy requested additional units while following a white Ford Edge whose driver refused to stop, with the suspect parking the vehicle on a driveway at Canyon Crest Apartment Homes, according to observations on the scene.
The suspect fled the scene on foot and deputies established a containment site, according to Sgt. Ryan Elsee with the station.
A woman was handcuffed while an air unit searched the area for another subject who is at large still, as of the publication of this story, according to observations from the scene.
The woman was let go around 4:52 p.m. and left the scene in the vehicle, according to observations at the scene.
