News release

Despite Saturday’s forecast calling for up to 2 inches of rain, Light Up Main Street, will still illuminate Old Town Newhall from 4 to 8 p.m.

“Make sure to wear your rain boots and bring an umbrella to enjoy the official kickoff to the holiday season here in Santa Clarita,” said a news release from the city.

Residents can join the Santa Clarita City Council in front of the Santa Clarita Public Library Old Town Newhall Branch (24500 Main St.) as they lead the countdown to light up the iconic Christmas tree, along with the tens of thousands of lights that will transform Old Town Newhall into a holiday wonderland at 5:30 p.m., the release said.

A few of the event’s features will be cancelled because of the rain, including the smores fire pits, Polar Playground (inflatables), snow machines and curling.

But, the release said, guests can still enjoy the Makers Marketplace, main stage entertainment, sponsor tents, letters to Santa, the Snow Zone, food and beverage lounge and beer garden, ice sculptures, nonprofit booths, photos with Santa, the Candy Cane Carnival, crafts, and the Santa Paws pet adoption opportunity.
