Deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station detained a man at gunpoint in Newhall on Friday afternoon after it was reported that he was brandishing a gun, which later was found to be a BB gun, according to deputies and radio dispatch traffic.

According to radio dispatch traffic, reports indicated that a man was seen walking along the 25800 block of Railroad Avenue near the famous Saugus Cafe holding a firearm.

Lt. Luis Molina with the SCV Sheriff’s Station said the man was reportedly waving the BB gun in the air.
