A man was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on Calgrove Boulevard near Interstate 5 on Tuesday morning, according to an official with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Deputies were dispatched to the call around 10:57 a.m. and arrived on the scene a few minutes later, according to Shirley Miller, spokeswoman with the station.
The victim was being followed on foot and was allegedly hit and/or punched, according to Sgt. Justin Boosalis with the station.
The victim was walking on The Old Road toward the In-N-Out, per radio dispatch traffic.
There were also talks at the scene that a gun was involved during the incident, Boosalis said.
Miller added that the victim declined medical treatment.
California Highway Patrol Newhall-area officers briefly halted traffic, so the suspect would not run into lanes on the freeway, Miller said.
Boosalis said that the firearm had not been located at the time of this publication.
