One person was killed in a fiery crash in the early hours of Saturday morning in Saugus, according to officials.
First responders with the Los Angeles County Fire Department and Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash at 2:10 a.m. near the intersection of Cinema Drive and Bouquet Canyon Road, said Sgt. Robert Garcia, a spokesman for the SCV Sheriff’s Station.
On arrival officials found a vehicle on fire that collided into a pole, according to Jonathan Torres, a spokesman for the L.A. County Fire Department.
According to Garcia, preliminary information indicated that for reasons still under investigation the car collided into a pole, and the driver was declared dead at the scene.
According to media reports, the person killed was an off-duty Los Angeles Police Department officer, but Garcia could not confirm that information at the time of this story’s publication.
At approximately 6 a.m., the L.A. County Fire Department was once again dispatched to the scene to assist with patient recovery efforts, according to Torres.
