Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a shooting on the 22000 block of Park Street in Newhall on Tuesday night, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Watch Sgt. Josh Nemeth reported that deputies had received a call originating from 4th Street and Pine Street in Newhall, with the caller alleging that juveniles were fighting and that a person in the vicinity claimed to have a firearm. Later, an unknown person called authorities saying that they had been shot but refused to provide any additional information before hanging up. While the second call was initially believed to have originated from Camp Plenty Road, sheriff’s deputies used department resources to trace the call’s true origins to the 22200 block of Park Street.
Once on the scene, deputies were able to link the two calls together and learned that a shooting occurred in the area. Deputies also learned that a gunshot victim had been taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital. Deputies are actively investigating the incident, according to Nemeth.
