The L.A. County District Attorney’s Office filed two charges Friday after a verbal argument led to a physical confrontation between a parent and teenage child that resulted in minor injuries, according to court records.
The 53-year-old father pleaded not guilty and was released on his own recognizance after being ordered to take anger-management courses and obey a protective order.
Deputies arrested the man at his Valencia home Wednesday, the day the domestic disturbance was reported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, according to a Special Victims Bureau detective.
Sgt. Joseph Mesa said the incident was investigated, and a case involving two misdemeanor charges, child abuse with possible great bodily injury or death and disturbing the peace, was presented.
He’s due back in court Jan. 29.
