Deputies: Canyon Country man arrested on suspicion of false reports of emergency

A 43-year-old Canyon Country man was arrested on suspicion of false reports of an emergency after Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies received a call reporting a robbery at the intersection of Langside Avenue and Soledad Canyon Road on Monday evening, according to an email statement from an official with the station. 

Upon arrival, deputies contacted the informant and, upon further investigation, deputies determined there was no robbery committed at the location, according to the statement by Deputy Mariela Picard, public information officer with the station. 

The suspect admitted to calling 911 several times in the day to report several different crimes that did not happen, Picard’s statement said. 

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of false reports of an emergency and booked at the station, the statement said. 

He is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail as of the publication of this story, according to Picard’s statement.
