The investigation continues into the circumstances of the death of a 26-year-old man found down an embankment on Wednesday in Newhall, and L.A. County Sheriff’s Department officials are asking for the public’s help.
Angel Negrete, 26, of Lancaster, was identified as the man found unconscious down an embankment near the intersection of Sierra Highway and Needham Ranch Parkway at approximately 10 a.m. Wednesday.
As of Thursday afternoon, no details have emerged from the investigation. LASD investigators are still awaiting the determination of Negrete’s exact cause of death from the Medical Examiner’s Office, according to Sgt. Mark Perkins of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Unit.
Preliminary information indicated Negrete died hours before first responders were notified, Perkins said Wednesday, and deputies suspect he was hit by a car based on the nature of his injuries.
No witnesses were located at the scene of the incident when deputies were conducting their hourslong investigation Wednesday.
