Two mild morning earthquakes struck to the west of Santa Clarita Saturday morning, the second and third small earthquakes felt in the area this week.
According to the U.S. Geological survey, the small quakes hit in quick succession around 6:30 a.m., both about 6.2 miles south-southwest of Valencia, between Stevenson Ranch and the Ventura County border.
The first, a 2.7 magnitude quake, hit at 6:25 a.m. at a depth of about 7.7 miles. The second, slightly smaller 2.5 magnitude quake followed at 6:34 a.m., about 7 miles deep. The second quake hit slightly to the east of the first.
Though the quakes were strong enough to be felt in nearby Santa Clarita, no property damage or injuries have been reported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, said Deputy Robert Wilkinson.
