A 35-year-old man was arrested Wednesday afternoon on suspicion brandishing a gun on the southbound Interstate 5 north of Castaic, according to officials with the California Highway Patrol.
According to Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez, public information officer for the CHP, Newhall-area units received a call reporting highway violence at approximately 3:14 p.m.
“The suspect in the highway violence was making hand gestures and eventually brandished a handgun at the victim. Units responded to the area, located the suspect vehicle, and initiated an enforcement stop on the suspect vehicle,” Burgos-Lopez wrote in an email to The Signal.
The suspect was taken into custody. No reports of injuries were made. Upon further investigation, officers located a handgun in the vehicle, according to Burgos-Lopez.
