The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office has confirmed the identities of a local couple killed in a three-vehicle traffic collision Friday evening at Bouquet Canyon Road and Newhall Ranch Road.
Silvia Lux, 49, of Canyon Country, was the woman who died in the fatal crash, according to the Medical Examiner. Kylie Whetsel, a close friend of the Ortiz family, said that everyone knew Silvia as “Patty.”
Patty’s husband, Genry Ortiz Torres, 54, of Canyon Country, was the other victim, according to Kelly Vail, spokeswoman for the Medical Examiner.
The suspect was a minor, according to Sgt. Michael Downing with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Major Crimes Bureau Traffic Services Detail.
Downing added that the couple’s son had flown in from Colorado.
Whetsel said that the couple’s 25-year-old daughter, Erin, was in stable condition at the hospital, but in a lot of pain. She added that she was “thankful that God kept her (Erin) here with them.”
“Every time I saw them, they were smiling and such happy, great people … I wish everyone got the chance to meet (them),” Whetsel said.
She also wanted to thank the community for coming together and helping the family.
Downing said the investigation is ongoing at the time of this publication.
