The Saugus Union School District is having a series of public meetings and an online survey to gather community insight on the strengths and challenges in the district as well as desired leadership qualities for its future superintendent, according to a news release.
The feedback will help district officials develop a leadership profile that will help identify the best fit for the district following Colleen Hawkins’ departure on June 30. She has been Saugus’ superintendent for approximately eight years.
The information gathered will be published to the district’s website and updated frequently, according to the news release. Members of the public are encouraged to visit the site for additional information.
“Our search team will be conducting several meetings with district stakeholders to get their thoughts and opinions. Staff, parents, students and community members will be included. We will provide opportunities to participate in person, virtually and through an online survey,” the release stated. “We want to hear every voice and encourage parents, staff, students and community members to participate in one or more of the following ways.”
Virtual and in-person meetings will be open to the public and translation will be available.
An in-person meeting is scheduled to be held on Thursday, Feb. 19, at Bridgeport Elementary School at 6 p.m. The school site is located at 23670 Newhall Ranch Road.
The online virtual meeting is scheduled to be held on Monday, Feb. 23, at 6 p.m. The link to the virtual meeting can be found here: meet.google.com/sif-xapy-rru.
An anonymous online survey also is now available and will remain open until March 6. District staff will not have access to the identities of participants, the release added. According to the news release, it will take about five minutes to complete and a summary of the information collected will be provided to the district’s governing board.
