Los Angeles County Medical Examiner officials have identified the two victims in the fatal Newhall traffic collision on Sunday morning.
Mario Baez, 61, of San Fernando, and Nathaniel Cottrill, 45, of Bullhead City, Arizona, were the two men killed in the traffic collision on Newhall Avenue and Sierra Highway on Sunday morning, according to Kelly Vail, spokeswoman for the Medical Examiner.

During initial reports on Sunday morning, Sgt. R. Arambulo with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, who declined to give his first name, said that the deceased were suspected of making an illegal left turn out of the mobile home park in the area.
Arambulo added that a Los Angeles County Public Works truck was travelling westbound and hit the other car on Newhall Avenue. The man in the Public Works truck was not injured.

L.A. County Sheriff’s Department Traffic Services Detail deputies were on the scene investigating the collision, Arambulo said.
L.A. County Fire Department personnel were dispatched to a report of a traffic collision with a person trapped at 6:13 a.m., according to Keith Navarre with the Fire Department.

Firefighters got on the scene at 6:20 a.m. and extricated one person, Navarre said.
Navarre added that there were three people involved and two ambulances on the scene, but no transports were reported.
Firefighters closed the call at 6:52 a.m., Navarre said.
