The Castaic Union School District has scheduled a special governing board meeting Monday to cover several action items and a handful of bid approvals.

Those action items will include first readings of revisions to its policies regulating employee conduct with students to reflect a slate of new state laws.

According to the agenda, the meeting will feature a first reading of a board policy that would make several additions to its safety plan, including “procedures specifically designed to address the supervision and protection of children from child abuse or neglect or sex offenses” to reflect a new California law to protect pupil safety, Senate Bill 848.

It also adds on-campus sex offenses to the list of acts about which the principal is required to notify parents or guardians or employees.

The district plans to approve a $14,000 grant from the Los Angeles County Office of Education. The TK Classroom Grant will be used for implementing Preschool Transitional Kindergarten Learning Foundation standards in two transitional kindergarten classrooms, according to the agenda.

The board has also scheduled approvals for network provider services bids, and will announce the financial impact from bargaining agreements with the Castaic Teachers Association, per state law.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. Monday at 28131 Livingston Ave. in the Valencia Commerce Center.
