A collision involving three semi-trucks caused traffic delays lasting up to two hours on Interstate 5 northbound south of Quail Lake near State Route 138 on Tuesday morning, according to an official with California Highway Patrol Newhall-area Office.

The incident occurred around 5:39 a.m. and involved two big rigs that crashed and blocked the No. 4 lane, according to Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez with the CHP.

About five minutes later, a third big rig crashed into the second semi, causing oil to spill over the Nos. 2, 3 and 4 lanes, prompting closure for about one to two hours, Burgos-Lopez said.

All lanes were opened at the time of this publication, said Officer A. Delosreyes, who declined to provide his first name, spokesman for CHP Traffic Management.

There is no additional information at the time of this publication, Burgos-Lopez added.
