A motorcyclist was struck by an unknown vehicle on State Route 14 and taken to a nearby hospital Thursday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The motorcyclist was hit in the northbound lane of SR-14 near Newhall Avenue at about 3 p.m., said CHP Traffic Management Officer A. Dellos-Reyes, who declined to give his first name.

CHP incident logs indicate the motorcyclist was hit in the fast lane of the freeway. Those logs also indicated that multiple eyewitnesses said the motorcycle was hit by a dark-colored SUV.
L.A. County Fire Department personnel were called to the scene at 3:01 and arrived at 3:09 p.m. for a report of a traffic collision, said Fire Department spokesperson Kaitlyn Aldana. Aldana said that one person from the scene was taken to a nearby hospital at 3:18 p.m.
CHP officers shut down the northbound carpool lane at 3:12 p.m. and a tow truck was en route by 3:20 p.m., according to the CHP log.
