A vehicle fire prompted the closure of Needham Ranch Parkway at Newhall Avenue on Friday morning, according to sheriff’s and fire officials.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department was dispatched to the intersection in Newhall in response to a vehicle fire at approximately 9:37 a.m., said Kaitlyn Aldana, a spokeswoman for the agency.

It was not immediately known what kind of vehicle it was, or where the fire originated, she added.

The incident prompted law enforcement to assist with a road closure while fire personnel worked at extinguishing the flames, according to a Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station social media post.

It is unknown whether any injuries or transports were reported as of the publication of this story, according to Aldana.

An SCV Sheriff’s Station official was not immediately available for additional information.
