A domestic incident turned violent between a mother and son on Thursday night in Canyon Country, with both individuals transported to the hospital with serious injuries, according to Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials.
Just after 10 p.m. Thursday, deputies were dispatched to the 27300 block of Rock Rose Lane at the Park Sierra Apartments in response to a report of a stabbing, SCV Sheriff’s Station spokeswoman Shirley Miller said on Friday afternoon.
For reasons still under investigation, a man, approximately in his 40s, stabbed a woman in her 60s, Miller stated. It was later confirmed that the man was the son of the woman.
Following the stabbing, the man jumped from the second story of the building and suffered serious injuries. It is unknown whether the man jumped or fell from a window or balcony in an attempt to flee, Miller added. Deputies then located him in a nearby stairwell.
Information on where the woman was stabbed was not immediately available, but both individuals were transported to the hospital for medical treatment. The woman was conscious and breathing at the time of transport, Miller said.
According to reports from the scene, inside the apartment where the incident took place, first responders located the woman suffering from a stab wound to the head.
The incident remains under investigation, and detectives could possibly be pursuing attempted murder charges for the man, Miller said, adding that he remains at the hospital as of the publication of this story.
Austin Dave, of KNN, contributed to this report.
