News release

For those looking for a way to give back and make a meaningful impact on the community, the city of Santa Clarita invites residents of all ages to get involved in the fourth annual Make a Difference Day, scheduled Saturday, Oct. 24, a nationwide day of service that brings communities together through volunteerism.

This year, volunteers can choose from 25 city and nonprofit projects, offering ways to support local organizations and improve community spaces, said a news release from the city.

From volunteering along the Chuck Pontius Commuter Rail Trail to helping create a better environment for animals by beautifying enclosures at William S. Hart Park, there is something for everyone, the release said.

Volunteers can also sort donations with the Rise Foundation, revitalize a space at the Boys & Girls Club to make it safer and easier to use during programming or deep clean the Finally Family Homes Oasis Center to help create a more welcoming space for the individuals and families they serve.

“These projects are just a glimpse of the many ways volunteers can get involved. Each opportunity provides a chance to see the difference a few hours of service can make while learning more about the city facilities and nonprofit organizations that serve the Santa Clarita community,” the release said.

Volunteer spaces are limited; participants are encouraged to register early. All volunteers must preregister online at SantaClaritaVolunteers.com. Minors who would like to volunteer must be registered under a parent or guardian’s account.
