In the early hours of Wednesday morning, California Highway Patrol Newhall-area officers were notified by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department about a man who was wanted on suspicion of murder after he took a red big rig hauling a white truck on Interstate 5 northbound, according to CHP Newhall-area officials.
LASD requested CHP for an enforcement stop after a call went out around 7:06 a.m., according to Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez, spokesman for the CHP Newhall-area Office.
Burgos-Lopez said he could not confirm where the pursuit started. He said a spike strip was not deployed for the enforcement stop.
He added that the driver yielded on the I-5 northbound south of Templin Highway, where he was taken into custody without further incident.
Burgos-Lopez said officers handed the suspect over to the U.S. Marshal Task Force and LASD deputies who were also on the task force.
He said that the pursuit only reached about 30 mph and was about 2 miles in length.
