Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies spent about 45 minutes Wednesday night canvassing Saugus, near Copper Hill and Seco Canyon roads, after receiving multiple reports of gunshots in the area, a Sheriff’s Station official said.

Deputies were unable to determine the source of the noise complaints, according to Shirley Miller, spokeswoman for the station, who added that a report was taken but the incident has not yet been assigned to a detective as of Thursday morning. There was no mention of anyone injured in the report.

“They were unable to locate any casings in the area. They couldn’t find anything on the scene. They did end up taking a report for a suspicious circumstance … to do further investigation,” Miller said in a phone conversation Thursday.

“They will check into the matter further because we did receive a couple of calls. It wasn’t one caller,” Miller said.

At least a half-dozen sheriff’s patrol vehicles surrounded the entrance to the Mountain View Courtyards off Banyan Place, and numerous patrol SUVs were seen leaving the townhome complex around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Anyone with information about the incident can contact the SCV Sheriff’s Station at 661-260-4000. Anyone who would prefer to provide information anonymously, can call “Crime Stoppers” by dialing 800-222-TIPS (8477), use a smartphone by downloading the “P3 Tips” Mobile APP on Google play or the Apple App Store or by using the website lacrimestoppers.org.
