Firefighters responded to several incidents in Canyon Country throughout the morning, including an electric vehicle fire at a residence, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department and on-scene reports.
According to Howard Tieu, spokesman for the L.A. County Fire Department, firefighters responded to an encampment fire at the 26700 block of Claudette Street. Firefighters were dispatched at 12:53 a.m. and on the scene at 1:05 a.m.
Forward progress was stopped at 1.5 acres at 1:22 a.m.
In addition, fire units responded to a hazardous material call at 7:48 a.m. at the 20500 block of Stella Place. Units were on the scene at 7:57 a.m. The active fire was stopped at 8:25 a.m. and no injuries were reported.
According to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, deputies responded to the incident alongside the Fire Department. The cause is due to an electric vehicle, according to Miller.
Firefighters are still on the scene at the time of this story’s publication to respond to the hazardous materials incident. According to a social media post by the city of Santa Clarita at 9:22 a.m., the following statement was issued:
“Please Avoid the Area: L.A. County Fire is working a fire/hazmat incident on Stella Place in the Five Knolls area. Smoke may be visible, please avoid the area. An evacuation advisory has been issued.”
