A pursuit from Baldwin Park ended near the intersection of Copper Hill Drive and Haskell Canyon Road in Saugus Wednesday morning, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
According to Miller, multiple SCV deputies responded to the scene at around 8 a.m. Baldwin Park officers were initially trying to locate the suspect, before SCV deputies assisted.
According to Miller, the Baldwin Park officers pursued the suspect to Bouquet Canyon and Haskell Canyon Road. After a traffic stop was conducted, the individual was found to be a felony vandalism suspect.
According to Miller, the suspect then allegedly rammed into at least one Baldwin Park police vehicle, before SCV deputies were able to perform a PIT (precision immobilization technique) maneuver to bring the pursuit to a halt at Haskell Canyon Road near Copper Hill.
According to reports from the scene, the vehicle, a white sedan, could be seen in the center divider of a parking lot filled with bushes. The vehicle also hit a parked car when the pursuit ended.
According to the preliminary information provided, the suspect was detained. It is unclear as of the time of this story’s publication which charges the suspect will face.
According to Sgt. Jose Castro with the Baldwin Park Police Department, Baldwin Park initiated the investigation regarding the suspect and one of the officers, before the suspect fled the scene. SCV deputies picked up the pursuit, according to Castro.
The investigation is being conducted by the Baldwin Park Police Department, according to Miller.
