A hit-and-run driver in a white Silverado is at large after hitting another car and several mailboxes on the 23700 block of Valle Del Oro just north of Via Canon on Saturday night, according to officials with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
The incident was reported around 9 p.m. Saturday, according to sheriff’s Sgt. R. Arambulo, who declined to give his first name.
A resident walking around the area witnessed the crash and he mentioned the driver in a white lifted Silverado with two doors lost control of the truck and veered to the left side of the street and crashed into the mailboxes.
He said the driver reversed and while he was taking off, he kept losing control of the truck and the tires kept spinning and fled the scene. It was raining at the time of the crash.
One vehicle parked next to the mailboxes showed minor damage to the rear left side bumper; the owner contacted the SCV Sheriff’s Station to report the damage.
Four sheriff’s patrol units arrived at the location and searched the area for the vehicle described by the witness.
Residents started opening their mailboxes, knowing that it could take time to get them replaced or fixed back in place.
No injuries were reported.
