The All-CIF Southern Section girls volleyball teams were released Monday, and Santa Clarita Valley athletes made appearances in both the Division 9 and Division 10 lists.

Albert Einstein Academy had two seniors named to the Division 10 team: Brianna Sanford and Helen Rodriguez.

“I think it shows that anybody, even in the small schools, can really achieve the same things as the big schools,” said Einstein coach Ken Erenberg.

“Trinity, SCCS and ourselves, for being small schools, all had pretty incredible seasons,” he said. “It just goes to show how strong volleyball is in the Santa Clarita Valley.”

Sanford, who has earned her third All-CIF spot, finished the season with 81 kills, 50 digs and 29 blocks in 51 sets for the Rockets. Rodriguez totaled 175 kills, 37 assists and 34 blocks in 57 sets, according to MaxPreps.

Both were also named Omega League first-teamers two weeks ago and will continue playing volleyball in college at the NCAA Division 3 level.

Einstein’s season ended in the second round of the CIF-SS Division 10 playoffs after falling to San Jacinto Valley Academy, 3-2. The team concluded the season with a 15-5 overall record, going 11-3 in league.

Trinity Classical Academy’s Jessica Eblin, the Heritage League MVP, was named to the Division 9 All-CIF list. Eblin led the Knights in aces and assists with 48 and 162, respectively. She will continue her volleyball career at Siena College, an NCAA Division 1 school in upstate New York.

“I’ve been playing volleyball for seven years, and I’ve just been working nonstop to play the best I possibly can,” Eblin said. “So for me, seeing it all come together, it means a lot.”

Also on the Division 9 team is Santa Clarita Christian’s Vanessa Cardenas. Cardenas was also named to the Heritage League first team after helping her team to the CIF-SS Division 9 quarterfinals.

No Foothill League players made an All-CIF team.
