For the second week in a row, Hart High boys golf took a Foothill League meet team title and had a medalist.

The Indians came in first place with a score of 399 at league meet No. 2 on Tuesday at Valencia Country Club.

Next was West Ranch at 407, Saugus at 408 and Valencia at 415. Golden Valley (473) and Canyon (510) rounded out the finishers.

Jason Yoo is Hart’s second medalist of the season. He shared the day’s honor with Valencia’s Jackson Bright.

Yoo and Bright both carded a 1-over 73. In third was Hart’s Jess Scheller with a 74 and in third was West Ranch’s Gunnar Murray at 3-over.

Yoo’s score helped drop Hart’s team score, as the Indians feature individual results ranging from 1-over to 20-over.

“As a team I feel like we just need to keep this momentum going and not stop,” Yoo said. “In past years we were on top but we started losing momentum. This year I’m hoping we can stay consistent.”

Bright is hoping that his success will serve as encouragement for his teammates.

“I definitely think it helps,” Bright said. “It should help take some pressure off the guys on my team and hopefully we go out our next league match and play stress-free. When someone does well, it helps to motivate your team.”

While his initial shots were good, managing the greens was a challenge for Yoo, who played well in the windy conditions.

“My shots off the tee box were really good,” he said. “Probably what I need to work on is around the green. On the green is fine, but around the green, chips and stuff I need to work on.”

Bright started off shaky at the first hole but was able to mentally rebound and put well to get back on track.

“I hit my first tee shot out of bounds,” Bright said. “I started off on a rough note, but I was able to save bogey on that hole and then I played really consistent for the rest of the day.

“It’s my senior year so I’m happy to play well and help my team. We came in fourth today so we still have some room to improve.”

The third Foothill League meet of the season is April 12 at noon at Robinson Ranch Golf Club.
