Penni Perrault, President of Eta Rho, Santa Clarita chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, was honored recently as the Outstanding Member of 2017.
Delta Kappa Gamma is an international society of teachers. The award was presented on March 11, at the Area IX Spring Festival at the Knollwood Country Club in Granada Hills.
Penni’s accomplishments as a teacher span 26 years in the Santa Clarita Valley. She began as a GATE teacher in the Saugus District and eventually moved to the Newhall District, where her twenty plus year career included assignments at Newhall Elementary, Oak Hills and McGrath School.
Retiring in June of 2016, Penni reflects on teaching and what it means to her, “School is the only place where we share ideas purely for the sake of bettering ourselves. I loved inspiring students academically and personally.”
Penni’s leadership of the local chapter, Eta Rho, garnered her the award. She previously served as Vice-President and Corresponding Secretary of the organization.
In her newly retired routine, Penni enjoys traveling, writing, reading, and volunteering for her favorite charity, Help the Children, in Valencia. This organization feeds hungry families in the Santa Clarita Valley.
