Hart High grad Trevor Bauer has caught fire for the Indians.

He gave up zero runs in 6 1/3 innings in his most recent outing, while striking out four and giving up seven hits. The Indians shut out the Royals in the game, which was on Saturday.

Prior to that, he pitched 2/3 innings against the Twins, recording one strikeout and yielding one hit.

“He doesn’t back down,” said Indians manager Terry Francona in an article on MLB.com. “In big situations, he’s kind of coming through more often than not.”

Zach Britton (Baltimore Orioles, former Canyon High player)

Britton recorded his 11th save of the year in Monday’s 7-3 over the Oakland Athletics. He threw four pitches in 1/3 of an inning.

Analysts predicted that Britton would be traded at the July 31 trade deadline, but the lefty stayed put. He will be a free agent following the 2018 season.

Tommy Milone (New York Mets, Saugus High grad)

According to cbssports.com, Milone is expected to start tonight against the Diamondbacks after returning from a knee issue.

Milone got the nod after usual pitcher Steven Matz developed a nerve issue in his elbow.

The Saugus grad last pitched on May 21 in a 12-5 loss to the Angels. In 1 2/3 innings, he recorded three strikeouts while giving up seven hits and eight runs.

Mike Montgomery (Chicago Cubs, Hart High grad)

Montgomery threw for 4 1/3 innings in Chicago’s 13-10 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on August 17.  He recorded four K’s and gave up three hits and zero runs.

James Shields (Chicago White Sox, Hart High grad)

Shields’ ERA improved to 5.72 after throwing for 5 1/3 innings in the White Sox’s 4-3 win over the Rangers on Friday.

He struck out six batters and allowed five hits and two runs.

Pat Valaika (Colorado Rockies, Hart High grad)

On August 5 against the Phillies, Valaika was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. The Rockies took the game 8-5.

In 75 games for the Colorado this season, the Hart grad has 10 home runs and 31 RBIs.
