Thomas W. Schaller will demonstrate watercolor painting at the Santa Clarita Artists Association (SCAA) meeting on Monday evening, Sept. 18, at 6:30 p.m. This event is free, open to the public and meets at 6:30 p.m. at Barnes & Noble, 23630 Valencia Blvd.
“I’m in love with the watercolor medium. I usually describe my paintings as interpreted realism although what I paint is strictly not realistic. I believe that it is my job as an artist not to paint what I see so much as how I feel about what I see. All art is a form of storytelling and I believe that good art asks more questions than it answers,” said Schaller.
One of the foremost architectural artists in the world, Schaller won every major award in his field for his artwork – including being a two-time recipient of the Hugh Ferriss Memorial Prize. He authored two books; the Architecture in Watercolor (best-selling and AIA award of merit winner) and The Art of Architectural Drawing. He is in demand internationally to conduct his watercolor workshop series, “The Architecture of Light“ filmed in 2015 as a series of videos and DVDs by Artist Network TV.
