The newest exhibit at the Westfield Valencia Town Center Art Space, “Zen Space” by artist BiJian Fan, reminds visitors to take a moment in their busy lives to breathe deeply and be mindful, according to a city of Santa Clarita news release.
The exhibit features a display of cutting-edge paper sculptures influenced by paper art traditions from China. The Town Center Art Space is located at the Westfield Valencia Town Center adjacent to Sisley Restaurant. The exhibition will be on display through May 4, 2018, and an art is slated for Wednesday, Jan. 10.
“An artful Zen space is created to symbolize mindfulness. It visually sets the pace of life through meditative figure, Zen tea and singing birds,” says artist BiJian Fan.
BiJian was born in Beijing, China and learned the skill of paper art from his grandmother. Today, BiJian resides in Camarillo, California. He still creates cutting-edge paper sculpture to carry on the tradition, but has expanded to metal, polymer and other materials.
Residents are invited to attend a free art reception on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Westfield Valencia Town Center Art Space. Guests will be able to meet the artist and enjoy light appetizers. No RSVP is required to attend.
