Every fall the City of Santa Clarita comes together to celebrate our accomplishments for the year and look forward to what the future will bring. We invite the community to join us in celebration at the annual State of the City Luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 25, at 11:30 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency Valencia.

The theme for this year is Santa Clarita — City of the Arts. Guests will get to explore the artistic renaissance that is growing in our city, thanks to our talented pool of local artists, live theater opportunities, live music, public art pieces and so much more.

Guests will be treated to live performances, video highlights featuring the City Council, presentations with project updates and receive a custom, commemorative gift.

One highlight of the event is the latest updates on our five-year strategic plan, Santa Clarita 2020, and the exciting projects within it.

Your City Council will share information on the progress at the site of the much-anticipated new Canyon Country Community Center, the new Sheriff’s Station and what’s new in Old Town Newhall.

Guests will learn about what the city is doing in the areas of public safety, homelessness, traffic safety, maintaining our infrastructure, enhancing our 34 parks and protecting even more pristine open space for future generations to enjoy.

Whether you’re a returning guest or considering attending for the first time, I look forward to seeing you at this year’s State of the City luncheon as we celebrate the arts.  We are a dynamic and flourishing community with artistic talent and culture; let’s share our plans for the future of Santa Clarita.

It is not too late to get your tickets. For more information please visit santa-clarita.com or call the city of Santa Clarita at (661) 255-4939.

Laurene Weste is mayor of Santa Clarita.
