The Newhall Community Center is set to present the latest exhibit by Heroes of Color, which focuses on the celebration of the arts from around the world.
The multicultural cartoon exhibition, “United by Art,” derives from an upcoming book with the same title, which will feature more than 100 nations from around the globe.
“The idea is to bring the nations from around the world to the young readers who may not have the ability to travel due to limited financial resources,” according to a prepared statement from the city of Santa Clarita. “It can have a profound positive effect on the child to see how beautifully represented the nations are and how important their contributions are to the arts.”
A reception is scheduled to take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Newhall Community Center, located at 22421 Market St.
Heroes of Color is an art organization that promotes diversity and representation through multicultural content including books, animation and other merchandise, according to the organization’s website.
March will mark one year since Heroes of Color started serving the Santa Clarita community by providing art workshops for children and adults, professional development opportunities and educational animated video series to help diversify the school curriculum.
