Deputies respond to report of gunfire

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to a call of gunfire at the intersection of Arch Street and 5th Street in Newhall Friday.

The call came in at 10:15 p.m., according to Lt. Eric Lasko with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “The person who called said they heard possibly 10 gunshots.”

No one was injured as a result of the gunfire, but four individuals were detained and later released at the scene, said Lasko.

The circumstances around the incident and whether it is gang-related were still being investigated, according to Lasko.
