The Trump Republicans are at it again. President Donald Trump’s supporters across the nation are protesting the stay-at-home guidelines while the president has essentially washed his hands of the entire pandemic, especially the testing and procurement of critical personal protective equipment necessary to fight the progression of COVID-19.
Moreover, celebrities such as Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz are suggesting that the potential rise in mortality rate is worth risking the lives of American workers and children, therefore we should open businesses and schools now. I thought one of the critical tenets of the medical profession was, “do no harm.”
While the COVID-19 pandemic appears to be far removed from the special election for the 25th Congressional District, I believe it’s essential that we choose a representative who will fight for the well-being of all of us.
Dan Moran makes a strong argument for Mike Garcia. I’m sure he is a fabulous husband and father as well as a community leader. However, Mike Garcia has expressed his strong support for Trump and the ideals of the Trump Republican Party. As a former Republican, I do not recognize the party as it exists today nor will I support any of its followers. Hence, I’ve joined the Lincoln Project, a group of conservative Republicans led by George T. Conway III, Steve Schmidt, John Weaver and Rick Wilson, to defeat President Trump and his ardent supporters.
The Lincoln Project is dedicated to restoring the rule of law and the values of decency and respect.
While I don’t agree with Christy Smith on all issues, I strongly believe she has the best interests of our community at heart. She has the support of firefighters, medical professionals and community leaders. She is a strong advocate for education, health care and human rights.
My wife and I live in the same community as Christy and have cast our votes for her. Please join us in recapturing the commitment to order, civility and decency. Vote for Christy Smith. Thank you and God bless America.
