Jimmy Carter got 41% of the vote in 1980, which is frankly astounding given his incompetence, but since Joe Biden polled about the same level it’s clear that two out of five voters never learned a thing from the peace and prosperity of Ronald Reagan (or Donald Trump). Liberal politics is their religion, and they’ll never switch churches, no matter how severely reality might empty its pews.
