CHP: Man arrested on suspicion of obstruction of executive officer, DUI

A man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and obstruction of an executive officer on the State Route 14 southbound south of Newhall Avenue on Friday evening, according to officials with the California Highway Patrol Newhall-area Office. 

The driver of a red Chevrolet pickup was uncooperative and irate, according to an email statement by Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez with the CHP. 

Officers placed the man under arrest and into a patrol vehicle, where he then spit at officers, the email statement said. 

He was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI and a felony for obstruction of executive officer, the email statement said. 

The man was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital before being booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, Burgos-Lopez’s email statement said.
