News release

As part of the Interstate 5 North L.A. County Enhancements Project to improve safety and mobility, crews will complete roadway excavation, paving, electrical upgrades and guardrail installation on the southbound I-5 on-ramp at Lyons Avenue/Pico Canyon Road in Santa Clarita, resulting in the ramp being temporarily closed, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Motorists are encouraged to allow extra time, follow posted detours on local streets and drive carefully to keep workers safe during the closure, the release said.

The closure will be in effect from 6:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, to 2 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4.

The Metro release described the detour route as follows:

• Traveling westbound on Lyons Avenue/Pico Canyon Road, head north on The Old Road.

• Turn east on McBean Parkway.

• Enter southbound I-5 via the McBean Parkway on-ramp.

The construction zone will be protected by K-rail and the speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph to ensure worker safety. Access for emergency responders will be maintained throughout construction.
