This letter was written before the House and Senate voted to end the government shutdown.

Health care is a right, not a privilege, and should be available to all Americans. America being the richest nation in the world, America has morally neglected health care and consequently there has been a collapse and a policy failure in health care in America.

Health care could unite America, and prove that “compassion is not weakness, but strength.”

When John McCain famously gave a “thumbs-down” vote not to annul the Affordable Care Act on July 28, 2017, it was an act of courage and I say on behalf of all Americans thank you for your courage and compassion, John McCain.

That “thumbs-down” vote by John McCain to save the ACA was about the 100th time Republicans tried to end, gut or severely “disfigure” health care for Americans.

By not passing the ACA (subsidy extension), 24.2 million people on the ACA plan can expect their insurance rates, copays and deductibles to skyrocket.

Democrats are holding firm on protecting the ACA and voters are backing them.

The shutdown may last a long time, but the public will be patient knowing that the ACA will take care of their well being. Health care for all is the right thing to give Americans a piece of mind about their well being.
