I don’t live in District 2, so I won’t have the opportunity to vote for Denise Lite myself. But that hasn’t stopped me from telling every friend I have who does live there that they should be paying attention to this race. I got involved with Denise’s campaign some time ago, and her dedication and energy are contagious. She’s the kind of candidate who makes you want to get involved, which is why I’ve decided to volunteer my time and knock on doors for her even though District 2 isn’t my district. I’ve also been impressed by the enthusiasm of the people around her. Her volunteers are engaged, her team is energized, and people genuinely believe in what she can bring to the City Council.

I strongly urge those who live in District 2 to vote for Denise Lite. For those of us who live elsewhere in Santa Clarita, we can help, too. Encourage your friends and neighbors in District 2 to learn about Denise, volunteer your time and talents, or contribute to her campaign. A council member may be elected by a single district, but once elected, the decisions they make affect our entire city. We should all care about who represents each district because Santa Clarita is at its best when we have council members who can work together, find common ground, and put the interests of the entire community first.

I may not be able to cast a ballot for Denise, but I can give my time, effort and support to help elect someone I believe will make our entire city better. That’s why I’m proud to volunteer for Team Lite, and why I hope my fellow Santa Clarita residents will recognize that we all have a stake in the leadership of our city, regardless of where the district lines fall.

And to those who do have a vote in District 2, I hope you’ll use it to elect Denise Lite to the Santa Clarita City Council.
