A 40-year-old man from Pasadena was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after he took an Airbnb host’s property, made verbal threats to harm him, and caused damage to items on the property, according to a spokeswoman for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
The incident took place on the 19800 block of Sandpiper Place in Canyon Country on Wednesday where deputies responded to a reported battery, Shirley Miller, a spokeswoman for the SCV Sheriff’s Station, wrote in an email on Friday afternoon.
The victim, identified as an Airbnb host, contacted authorities and reported that a guest, identified as a 40-year-old Pasadena man, took the victim’s phone, made verbal threats to harm him and caused damage to items inside the Airbnb, according to Miller.
The victim sustained injuries and was treated at the scene. The man was arrested on suspicion of felony charges including robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, and vandalism, Miller added in the email.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department arrest logs, the suspect’s charges were lowered to a misdemeanor and he was released on Friday afternoon. He is due in court on May 6 in San Fernando Superior Court.
