News release

The Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency is inviting customers and other interested parties to review its 2025 Draft Urban Water Management Plan, which is now available for public review.

The UWMP is a state-required planning document, updated every five years, that guides how the agency will provide reliable water service for the Santa Clarita Valley community over the next two decades, according to a news release from the agency.

The UWMP describes how water is used in the SCV, where water supplies come from, how SCV Water plans for drought and emergencies, and how the agency is preparing for future challenges such as climate change and population growth. Members of the public can review the Draft UWMP and provide public comment through April 28, the release said.

“Public input is an important part of the process of developing the Draft UWMP, which must be submitted to the state of California by July 1, 2026,” the release said. All comments received during the public comment period will be documented, reviewed by staff and the project team, and considered before the plan is finalized and presented for adoption.

The public comment period leads to the first of two public hearings. On Tuesday, April 28, at 6 p.m., the SCV Water board of directors will hold a special meeting to review the Draft UWMP and take public comment.

The public can attend this hearing at the SCV Water Administration Building (27234 Bouquet Canyon Road, Santa Clarita) or participate virtually via Zoom. The SCV Water board of directors is scheduled to hold a second public hearing on Tuesday, June 9, at 6 p.m. to consider the final 2025 UWMP for adoption.

Those interested in reviewing the Draft UWMP and providing public comment can do so by visiting yourSCVwater.com/uwmp. A printed copy of the Draft UWMP will be made available upon request to Communications Manager Kevin Strauss at [email protected] or 661-513-1265. Information on the April 28 Public Hearing will be posted to yourSCVwater.com/meetings prior to the meeting date.
